Prevent baseline shift, increase sensitivity, improve resolution, and ensure consistent peak integration by using eluent generation. A range of Thermo Scientific™ Dionex™ EGC Cartridges are available for the production of hydroxide, carbonate, bicarbonate and methanesulfonic acid eluents. Eluent generation eliminates the need to handle acids and bases, which are traditionally required for the preparation of IC eluents, and allows chromatographers to run a full range of gradient and isocratic separations more effectively than hand-made eluents.

Automatic production of high-purity eluents

  • Use for Isocratic or gradient separations
  • Use Dionex EGC 400 cartridges only for dual EGC mode on the Dionex ICS-6000 HPIC system for complex carbohydrate analyses
  • Obtain outstanding run-to-run reproducibility week after week
  • Eliminate acid and base handling
  • Reduce pump maintenance and increase lifetime; the pump only encounters deionized water
  • Use with a broad range of flow rates typically employed for standard bore to capillary columns
  • Use with high pressure ion chromatography systems with pressures up to 5000 psi (34.5MPa, Dionex EGC Capillary and EGC 500 only)

  • Dionex EGC III and EGC 500 cartridges support a concentration range of 0.1–100mM (0.1–80mM EGC III LiOH) at 1.0mL/min
  • Dionex KOH, NaOH and LiOH cartridges support a maximum of 25% methanol
  • Dionex K2CO3 and MSA cartridges are not solvent compatible
  • Dionex EGC (Capillary) cartridges support a concentration range of 0.1–200mM at 0.010mL/min and a flow rate range of 1-30µL/min (0.001-0.030mL/min)
  • Dionex EGC-KOH (Capillary) cartridge supports a maximum of 25% methanol
  • Dionex EGC-MSA (Capillary) cartridge is not solvent compatible


Dual EGC mode for complex carbohydrates

Automatically generate eluent gradients to analyze complex carbohydrates by operating your Dionex ICS-6000 HPIC system in Dual Eluent Generation Cartridge (Dual EGC) mode. This novel option uses a methanesulfonic acid (MSA) EGC 400 cartridge and a potassium hydroxide (KOH) EGC 400 cartridge in series with each other to generate the extremely reproducible and accurate KOH/KMSA eluent gradient needed for analyzing complex carbohydrates such as oligosaccharides.
